Speed Up Your Sun Salutation Yoga Sequence
If you want to trim your body and tone your muscles this year, simply pick up the pace! Power vinyasa teacher Kiersten Mooney and a team of researchers recently found yogis burned 100 percent more calories and used their muscles up to twice as much (40–50 percent more muscle firing) when they practiced faster Sun Salutations compared with slower ones. Mooney suggests first learning a new sequence at a moderate pace, similar to what you’d do in a Hatha yoga class. Start by holding each pose for 3 breaths and move toward a 1-breath-per-pose pace. Once you develop new pathways in your brain, you can build velocity with ease and safety, she says. Now try it and follow along with her flow.

Welcome to Day 9 of 21 Day BEGINNER YOGA CHALLENGE.
Sun Salutation B/Surya Namaskara B is another set sequence of poses that warms up, stretches and strengthens the body.
We will try two variations of Sun Salutation B - with High Lunge and Warrior I, so you can choose which one you prefer :)
Sun Salutation B with Warrior I is more traditional, but Warrior I can be hard, especially at the beginning of the practice. I prefer Sun Salutation B with High Lunge and practice Warrior I later in the practice when my body is properly warmed up. However, everybody is different, so if Warrior I feels good in your body, go ahead and practice this variation :)

Welcome to Day 8 of 21 Day BEGINNER YOGA CHALLENGE.
Today we will practice a beginner-friendly variation of Sun Salutation A/Surya Namaskara A - this sequence of poses is often practiced at the beginning of yoga classes to warm up the whole body.
In this practice, we begin with Half Sun Salutations, continue with 5 rounds of Sun Salutation A, and cool down with some seated postures.

Welcome to Day 9 of 21 Day BEGINNER YOGA CHALLENGE.
Sun Salutation B/Surya Namaskara B is another set sequence of poses that warms up, stretches and strengthens the body.
We will try two variations of Sun Salutation B - with High Lunge and Warrior I, so you can choose which one you prefer :)
Sun Salutation B with Warrior I is more traditional, but Warrior I can be hard, especially at the beginning of the practice. I prefer Sun Salutation B with High Lunge and practice Warrior I later in the practice when my body is properly warmed up. However, everybody is different, so if Warrior I feels good in your body, go ahead and practice this variation :)
